My name is Emmie Vanhooren. I am a Belgian midwife. I graduated VIVES College University as a midwife in 2013 and took a special interest in the tropics ever since I passed a three month internship in Uganda.
I continued to work in Uganda as a midwife until April 2014, which allowed me to grow an even bigger love for the tropical health care and its setting.
In 2016, I graduated as a Master of Science in Nursing and Midwifery from the University of Ghent, and in 2017, I finished my postgraduate in Tropical Medicine at ITM, Antwerp. Meanwhile I have been working as a nurse on a surgical ward and I have been working as a midwife ad interim.
